"The Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) is a government medical college in Delhi affiliated to University of Delhi. It is named after Indian freedom fighter and first education minister of independent India Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. It is located at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi. MAMC is one of India's premier medical colleges and consistently ranked amongst the top 5 medical colleges in the country. The college has the following hospitals attached to it: 1.Lok Nayak Hospital 2.Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital 3.Guru Nanak Eye Centre 4.Sushruta Trauma Centre 5.Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya The college is a tertiary care referral centre and has teaching programs for graduation/medical school, post graduation/residency and subspecialities/fellowships (referred to as superspecialities in India). The overall ranking of MAMC has always been in the top five. Its location in the capital city makes it a particularly attractive choice among students across Northern India. In 2011 India Today Rankings, it was ranked second among medical colleges in India, although other less known surveys give various ranks in the top 5. In terms of competitiveness for admission, it is certainly the second toughest medical institution in the country to gain admission to (only next to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences). The medical school offers the degrees of MBBS (medical school degree, equivalent to Doctor of Medicine or MD in some countries), post graduate/residency degrees of MS, MD and superspeciality/subspecialty fellowship degrees of MCh and DM. It has attached schools offering degrees in nursing and pharmacy. The attached hospitals are renowned for the training programs across specialties and subspecialties. The institution offers postgraduate degrees and diplomas in a variety of medical specialties. A total of 67 seats are available for MD, 25 for MS, and 25 for post graduate diploma courses. The institution offers post doctoral courses in 7 super-specialties and admits 24 students each year to these specialties. The college offers placements facilities to its students. Candidates must pass their Higher Secondary (10+2 level) or equivalent examination from a recognized board with the science subjects PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). They have to be an Indian citizen and above 17 years of age in order to be eligible to seek admission.

Entrance and Admission requirements
109 seats:- through DPMT Entrance Test conducted by Delhi University. •27 seats:- C.B.S.E. on All India basis. •36 seats:- Reserved for Sch Castes& Tribes 17 seats : - Reserved for OBC •5 seats:- res erved for son/daughter/widow of Armed personnel disabled or killed in action during hostilities. •6 seats :- Reserved for Government of India nominees. All students are required to pass an examination in Hindi at the end of the first or second year of MBBS/ BDS Course if he/she has not passed Hindi at the VlII standard (Minimum), unless he/she has been exempted by the Delhi University. Adequate arrangements for preparing the students for this examination are available at the Institution. "Selected candidates are required to deposit fees in person as early as possible after the announcement of selection and in any case before the notified date for the purpose, failing which admission will lapse automatically without any further notification and the seat shall be offered to next on waiting list. The fee is accepted subject to execution of bond to serve in rural areas for a period of two years as per terms and conditions mentioned in the bond. Hence, every student is required to execute the bond. Selected candidates will be required to undergo medical examination by the medical officers appointed for the purpose. Candidates found medically unfit will not be adimitted. Admissions close by 30th September

The distribution of seats is as follows: 15% of total seats i.e. 6 seats are filled in through the entrance examination conducted by the CBSE on All India basis. 15% of total seats i.e 6 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7½% i.e. 4 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes. 24 seats are filled on merit basis through DPMT entrance test conducted by Delhi University. All students are required to pass an examination in Hindi at the end of the first or second year of MBBS/ BDS Course if he/she has not passed Hindi at the VlII standard (Minimum), unless he/she has been exempted by the Delhi University.
